How to help a direct selling company prepare for a period of unprecedented expansion.

Action

The Ovid Groupe worked with the CEO and his leadership team to develop a strategy that clearly stated where they would focus their efforts in order to build the business domestically before they expanded internationally.

Outcome

The strategy was shared with the Board of Directors, rolled out to employees and became the focal point for individual work plans within the organization.  The company has experienced quarters of double-digit growth including a record quarter with growth over 50%.

Business Situation

Create a six-month leadership program focused on developing the next generation of leaders for a global firm that hand-picked the top 3% of its up-and-coming talent for this program.

Action

In conjunction with internal leaders, The Ovid Groupe developed a six-month, highly interactive experience for these new leaders.  The experience focused on leadership principles, strategy, teamwork, story-telling, persuasion and authenticity.

Outcome

Working as teams, they took the practical tools they had just developed and built proposals for company-wide projects that leadership had identified as critical for the future of the firm.  Each of these proposals were worked and modified over the six-month program and, ultimately, the teams presented them to leadership for approval and implementation.

The company is facing the challenge of watching its core competencies being treated as commodities with jobs going to the lowest bidder even though the firm can offer clients a “one-stop-shop” for multiple services other firms could not bundle.

Action

The Ovid Groupe worked with the leadership team to create a strategy that would leverage the firm’s ability to offer fully integrated solutions to their client’s media needs.  It required clarifying what they would offer, how they would use multiple geographies to solve their client’s problems and ensuring each part of the company could explain what the other parts did.

Outcome

Leadership is developing a process to confirm that all of the firm’s competencies are presented when job bids are made, and the sales teams are looking for ways to sell in the full suite of offerings.  The geographic boundaries are gone, and the focus has led to cost reductions and synergies.

Business Situation

An R&D leadership team in a large multinational CPG firm wanted to reach a new consumer base, reimaging how their brands could be used by loyal consumers and potentially partner with brand leaders in very different fields.

Action

The Ovid Groupe led a full day interactive experience that helped leadership team members anticipate and address future challenges, discover and appreciate innovation in new and different settings and opened their brands up to new possibilities.

Outcome

The leadership team re-wrote its strategy and directed some of the focus in new and previously untapped areas.  Internal “crowdsourcing” is being used to staff projects and inject ideas from outside of the brand category and partnership deals are being negotiated with leaders in non-CPG fields.

Productivity was declining, and moral was suffering because managers were unwilling to hold difficult conversations with their direct reports.  Holding individuals accountable was not the cultural norm.

Action

The Ovid Groupe designed a workshop that highlighted the importance of giving specific and timely feedback to co-workers and direct reports in order to achieve their desired business results.  With a focus on the key principles of effective feedback, and with exercises specifically designed to allow them to practice and apply what they had learned, each workshop participant left the session with practical tools and techniques to help them create an environment where feedback, accountability and follow up are all part of the day-to-day operations of the business.

Outcome

Those who completed the workshop gained a deeper understanding of:

  • Their role in building the business and building the organization
  • The principles for giving and receiving feedback
  • The importance of specific and timely feedback, and how to give feedback in an effective and productive way
  • The importance of creating an environment where trust and accountability are in harmony
